Location Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World LED pixel mapping for the Peter Pan float in Disney's Starlight nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom, widely regarded as the show's standout. My scope was the full mapping pipeline: taking PDF design documents and a highly detailed STL, decomposing the geometry in Fusion 360, placing pixels across complex organic surfaces using Blender geometry nodes, flattening panels in Inventor Pro, then producing final numbered wiring diagrams through scripted automation in Vectorworks. The float geometry was dense enough to crash my workstation repeatedly throughout the project, and the pipeline ran through five software environments before a single diagram reached fabrication. Location Saratoga National Historical Park, Stillwater, NY CNC programmer and operator for 18 tactile bronze relief maps and artifact replicas installed across Saratoga National Historical Park, part of a $6M GAOA Legacy Restoration Fund project replacing aging wayside exhibits with 60 new accessible installations. I programmed and milled foam masters that went to the foundry for bronze casting, working from high-resolution STEP files through toolpath generation to final cuts on high-density urethane foam. The maps were laid out in a 2 × 3 grid on full 4 × 8 foot sheets, three sheets total. Each sheet ran over 40 hours of machining across progressively finer passes. The maps required milling on both sides (the back face hogged out to reduce weight in the final bronze), so I developed a pin-based registration system using half-inch pegs to make the flip repeatable and precise. TouchDesigner-based LED animation and control for several interactive elements in Amazon’s HQ2 visitor center. Belle &amp; Wissell designed the experience; One &amp; 0, a studio formed by former Second Story colleagues, brought me on to handle all animated LED content. The centerpiece was a suspended cube cluster chandelier: I extracted 3D coordinates from the STL model using Blender and regex parsing, then mapped them into TouchDesigner to drive animations across the irregular geometry. Other elements included an interactive map table, a core values wall, and ABC window displays programmed over DMX. Location Philadelphia, PA (planned) Partners Moey Inc. (fabrication) National Light is an immersive installation of light and sound conceived for America's 250th birthday, designed to translate visitors' voices into a synchronized 360° composition of light and sound in real time. The project is designed to be adapted across scales and settings, from public parks to civic institutions. As an AV Technologist at ESI Design, I led the lighting specification for the installation, working through the technical requirements for how the translucent surfaces, LED systems, and visual effects would function together. When a restructuring at ESI led to my departure, I transitioned to Moey Inc. the same day. Moey had been contracted to fabricate a life-scale prototype of National Light, and my scope shifted from designing the lighting system to building it. A light sculpture capturing the cyclical push and pull of North Atlantic beaches. Twelve aluminum rings with mounted LEDs project onto a 15 × 15 inch bas-relief plate, where light pools and casts shadows. With the lights on, the effective size expands to nearly 96 × 96 inches. The LEDs use three temperatures of white: cool, warm, and amber. TensorFlow quantified emotional responses, driving real-time audio and visuals through TouchDesigner. I built and programmed the LED system, wiring four strips to a custom PCB I had originally designed for the Red Hat Summit installation. LED animations ran in TouchDesigner with data sent over serial. The whole project came together in a week before the 2019 holiday break. Colors shift throughout the day: purple in the morning, blue around lunch, green as the afternoon winds down. I generated several hundred layout designs in Processing, refined to a final ten with the design team, then down to one. Fabrication was entirely by hand: cutting LED strips, aluminum channels, diffusers, and wire harnesses to length, soldering connections, and assembling the strips in the correct order on a foamcore backboard for portability around the studio. The structures were wrapped in 85,000 feet of paracord inspired by communication networks, with LED lighting that illuminated to visualize information passing between booths. I designed custom electronics for managing the audio and LED systems, wrote all firmware for audio, lighting, and sensors, directed union installers on the large structures, and installed the electronics. A circular light sculpture with 1,176 LEDs arranged in 12 concentric rings, paired with white acrylic diffusion. When I build these pieces, I usually know the form and the electronics before I know the animation. The physics of how the light will behave is understood, but the character is not. I take time to play with the structure, circling in slowly until something clicks. The displays ran generative animations that responded to selections made at a nearby digital sign-in station, shifting the visual environment based on what members chose as they checked in.
